MBIE Grand Central

Creating a collaborative culture

Client:
Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment
Location:
Christchurch
Aspect Furniture completed the furniture fitout at Grand Central, located within the Christchurch Integrated Government Accommodation programme (CIGA). The Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment was the lead agency for this development. The other co-locating agencies were Ministry of Social Development and Department of Conservation.

The client’s decision to create an agile, ABW based workplace environment resulted in a need for a wide range of workpoint and collaborative furniture settings, which we were able to provide. We worked closely with the team at MBIE and Planet Design to respond with a unique solution encapsulating these requirements with a considered selection from our locally made and imported furniture systems.
A range of work settings provided to enable greater flexibility for teams to adapt to evolving business requirements and provide options for staff to work comfortably in an environment that suits their needs, while driving a positive change in workplace behaviours and develop a new collaborative social culture across government agencies.

Aspect Furniture Zurich sit to stand workstations were utilised for all work points, while Hive Media Booth, Thynk and Stork Leaners were implemented for both drop in focus and meeting spaces.

The new modern and innovative fitout will accommodate approximately 600 government staff.  Spanning 3 levels, the site needed to cater for a variety of government & community services within the one location.
