Modern Healthcare Design: Surgeons on Clarence Award-Winning Facility

Surgeons on Clarence recently partnered with APG architects to create a state-of-the-art medical facility in Hamilton.
The three-storey development Surgeons - Endoscopy on Clarence replaced their previous premises, which had been housed in an old cottage, transforming the practice into a modern healthcare destination.
The collaborative design team worked closely with Aspect to select furniture solutions that would enhance patient experience while maximising clinical functionality throughout the new building. A standout design element is the use of vertical louvres across the façade, which not only protect from harsh sunlight but also create dynamic interior spaces that change throughout the day as light patterns shift.
The ground floor features a welcoming reception area incorporating Drift Soft Seating, Mackenzie 2-Seaters, and Envelope Laptop Tables to create a comfortable waiting environment for patients.
Common areas, including the lunch room, feature Platform Leaners paired with Shift Bar Stools, while additional Drift Soft Seating, Agility Pedestal Tables, and Envelope Laptop Tables throughout create added comfort in waiting areas.
The sophisticated upper floor houses theaters, recovery areas, and consulting rooms designed for optimal patient care. Consulting rooms were equipped with Activate+ Sit to Stand Workstations and Portone Task Chairs for medical staff, alongside comfortable Tailor Lounge Chairs for patients. The boardroom features an Atlas Sit to Stand Table with Plimode High Back Meeting Chairs.
The facility's design is complemented by functional basement parking with essential services, ensuring convenience for both staff and visitors.
Surgeons Endoscopy on Clarence is an unparalleled healthcare facility, that meets the evolving needs of modern medical practices. The facility is an exemplary integration of architecture and functional furnishing solutions and was recently recognised with the Resene Colour Maestro Colour Award, 2025.
